Pregnancy During College: Know Your Rights
While you are in charge of your future, you have rights as a pregnant or parenting college student.
Title IX ensures that pregnant and parenting students receive additional flexibility and assistance. If your school accepts federal funds, it must excuse absences for medical reasons, offer reasonable accommodations, and allow you to return to the same academic standing.
Tennessee colleges, including state universities, have Title IX offices ready to help you navigate these accommodations and stay on track academically. Contact your school’s Title IX Coordinator or guidance counselor for additional assistance.
