Equipping Yourself with the Facts
It’s critical to remember that not every pregnant woman will have symptoms. Additionally, some symptoms like fatigue or nausea can indicate other health conditions, and if a woman’s cycle is irregular, a missed period won’t necessarily mean she’s pregnant.
However, knowing common pregnancy symptoms will help you understand what to look for:
1. Missed Period
A missed period is a classic sign of pregnancy. However, taking a pregnancy test can provide further insight because this symptom can come from weight changes, hormonal imbalances, and more.
2. Frequent Urination
During pregnancy, your kidneys process additional fluid that collects in your bladder. You could be pregnant if you find yourself using the bathroom more frequently.
3. Fatigue
Are you feeling more tired than usual? Have you had to nap frequently? Hormonal changes during pregnancy can cause this symptom.
4. Tender, Swollen Breasts
Hormonal changes can make your breasts feel sensitive and sore. This symptom should subside over time.
5. Nausea (With or Without Vomiting)
Despite the term, “morning sickness” can occur at any time of the day or night. Hormones produced during pregnancy are the most likely cause of this symptom.
6. Food Aversions
Are you struggling to eat food you once enjoyed because of the smell or taste? Do your senses seem to be altered? Hormonal changes can cause these aversions. Some women also experience cravings during pregnancy.
7. Moodiness
The rush of hormones can cause you to experience mood swings and more emotion than usual. While this is a common symptom, remember to take care of yourself and speak to your healthcare provider if these changes impact your daily life.
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms or recently have had sexual intercourse, your next step is to take a pregnancy. Get the answers you need before moving forward.
